At Bayou Village School We Strive to Cultivate a Lifelong Love of Learning
Founded in 2010, Bayou Village School is a community of parents, educators and other community members who share the goal of establishing an accredited Waldorf School (Pre-K through grade 4, and eventually a high school) in Central Houston.
Our campus consists of two houses in the Heights with a lovely outdoor play space. One of the buildings houses the 3-6 year olds and Grades Program; the other one the Sunflower Garden for part-time 3-6 year olds. We are located close to Milroy Park at Yale and 12th Street, which the children visit regularly.
Bayou Village School wishes to use a curriculum inspired by Waldorf education to provide children with a rich experience that prepares them to meet the challenges of our world and the future with clarity of thought, a caring heart, and the confidence to initiate change. We are dedicated to finding new ways to make our curriculum accessible to all families who wish to provide it for their children. Furthermore, we desire to provide educational opportunities for parents and the greater community and wish to create within the larger community an environment that embraces the beauty of nature and cultivates respect for it. We would like our school to be a community of parents, teachers and staff who work together to raise and educate all children.
Bayou Village School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation, cultural background, political beliefs, or marital status.
"Education is not the
filling of a pail,
but the lighting of a fire."
