"If you would be philanthropic, give to education. An investment in knowledge always yields the best interest!"

Like every nonprofit, Bayou Village School depends on the philanthropic support of the people who care about our school and our mission. And like every independent school, tuition alone does not support everything we do to educate the children of our school. Our wonderful and diverse community greatly benefits from the support of parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends.
By participating in school events, volunteering time and energy, and supporting fundraising initiatives, our community shows its support for our school and programs. Our Development Committee organizes school fundraising activities and events and welcomes your interest and participation.
There are several ways to give to Bayou Village School:
- Volunteer in the classroom, on a committee or as a member of the board of directors
- Attend our festivals
- Support us through company giving programs
- Contribute to specific fundraisers
- Donate to our annual Gala
- Company matching funds
- Make us your beneficiary through Amazon Smile (Heights of Learning)

Kroger Community Rewards Program
Kroger donates money to charitable organizations through this program. For our school to take advantage of this, members of our community need to sign up online for a Kroger account, sign in and enroll in community rewards under account settings, specifying Bayou Village School as the organization. After that our school will receive a donation from Kroger every time you swipe your plus card when shopping at Krogers.

As a developing member of WECAN, with hopes to become a fully recognized member, the main obstacle of reaching our goal is having fully certified Waldorf teachers on staff. In addition to a significant time commitment, with most programs spanning from 2-3 years requiring lots of travel and time away from their families, training is also a large financial investment. Self-development in our teachers is an integral part of Waldorf education and we hold this standard to all of our staff members, requiring yearly trainings, ongoing staff development efforts, and ask our staff to begin formal training should they be able to. As our teachers learn and develop more in their craft, the fruits of their labor can be witnessed in your children's classroom benefitting not only your child, but you as a parent as we support you the best we can through parent education opportunities.
Bayou Village School has undergone many changes and improvements to its facilities since its opening in 2010. From a little house in the Heights to purchasing a former head start school building and then expanding it to a 34,000 sq. ft. lot, nearly doubling the existing outdoor area, it's been made possible by generous donors. Improvements such as new floors, new school facade, new HVAC and appliances, playground improvements, and much, much more are all part of our Building & Ground committee's goal: Make the property Bayou Village School resides on an efficient use of space and magical place for children parents can feel safe leaving their children at every day.
Waldorf Education should be accessible to people from all walks of life, from all different socio-economic backgrounds. To better serve the needs of our community, we aim to have multiple outreach programs each year as well as financial aid available to our Kinder and Grades students. We almost always meet our maximum allowed budget in this department each year. Donations to our Financial Aid and Outreach budget allows us to to give more to our community members by way of tuition discounts and other financial help. In addition, we hope to have more opportunities to educate a variety of communities about Waldorf education and find more ways to serve lower-income communities.
