Our Mission: Fostering children to meet the world with a caring heart, clarity of thought, and responsibility to initiate change through critical thinking and compassionate action. Bayou Village School provides Houston families an inclusive, accessible, holistic education in a diverse urban setting.Founded in 2010, Bayou Village School is a community of families, educators and other area members who share the goal of providing accessible Waldorf education to Central Houston. We currently offer toddler through 6th grade. We are a licensed childcare facility by the State of Texas and a developing member of the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America.
At Bayou Village School we aim to create a nurturing environment that generates a lifelong enthusiasm for learning. Our teachers strive to educate the whole child; head, heart, hands through our creative, artistic, and experiential curriculum. Through Waldorf education and our core values of sustainability, mindfulness, inclusion, service, and community we are committed to prioritizing critical thinking, creativity, and emotional intelligence in order to foster individuals with a sense of responsibility for themselves, their communities, and the earth. Located in the Greater Northside community of Houston, just five minutes north of downtown, our staff and families reflect our city; the most diverse city in the United States. We are proud to represent a vibrant community of families from varied backgrounds and cultures sharing common ground in our desire to raise our children in the warm, nurturing environment Bayou Village School provides. |

Sustainability: With an emphasis on nature through curriculum and daily school practice, our students learn to care for the environment, embrace nature and all living things.
Mindfulness: Students and families are encouraged to minimize media exposure to promote the child’s inherent creativity and perceptiveness to the world around them.
Inclusion: EDIJ (equity, diversity, inclusion, & justice) are at the very heart of our school as we strive to lead by example, treating all living things with respect, kindness, and curiosity. We strive to create an environment that recognizes and values differences in race, ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, abilities, and perspectives.
Service: We model service to the children through various community outreach & service events as well as in offering them daily opportunities to be of service to themselves and their peers.
Community: Community is the crux of our organization. We reinforce the bond of our school wide community through parent education, seasonal festivals, and volunteer efforts throughout the school year.

As a 501c3 Non-Profit, part of our mission is to also provide Waldorf-inspired education opportunities to all families, through community service programs, financial aid scholarships, and more.
Bayou Village School is committed to the principle that every child should be able to attend our school.
